The WDPA Makos knotched up a further win in Round 3 at home against the Koroit Saints, making it 3 from 3. Overall scores coming to print 64 Makos to Saints 47. Paul Cameron along with team members Graeme Solly, Peter Cottier & Kim Overall produced a win of 4 shots, the card inked in as 18 to S Boschan 14. Mick Sloper combined with Tom Englezos, Chris Brambley & John Wallis in a tight one, producing 19 shots to M Funcke and team 21. Nick Seekamp led his team of Chris Fleming, Dean Beckman & Tony Jackson to a solid win 27 shots to P Ellis 12. The Makos are in equal top spot with City Red 32 points all and next take a trip to Port Fairy for Round 4 which will be a tough one.

Well done to Jan deZoete & Chris Fleming making it through to the Association Mixed Pairs semi-final on Sunday. The win was elusive by a mere one shot on the last end. Great effort.

FWPA WEEKEND PENNANT

It was another tough week on the greens for the FWPA Weekend pennant with Division 2 Memorial Red once again producing the only win:  Division 1 in Round 5 saw a tough battle against Penshurst in the shark tank, 64 all with one end to be played. Despite the best of efforts the team ultimately went down; Memorial 64, Penshurst 66.
Paul Bentham, Steve Turner, Jan deZoete & Jason Dean had tough competition going down 14 to Phillip Allen and team 34; Chris Elford, Des Pitts, Ken Evans & Leanne Evison combined to be the only winning rink on the day, 31 to the Justin Eales combination 10. Meanwhile Greg Dobbins, Tony Hogan, Darren Body & Simon Hein never relented in their efforts to bridge the gap, finally going  down 19 to David Cook's team 22.

Division 2 Red took a 10 shot win against Macarthur with scores 44 to 33. Donald McGowan, Jim Bryden, Geoff Sturzaker & June Leahy won 21 to 19 against Clifton Tonissen’s team in a close finish. Ron Robinson and contenders lan Merrett, Katheryn Beauglehole & Rob Abschinski combined well to produce a win of 23 shots to Frank Pye 14.

Memorial Blue travelled to Hamilton and the overall score was 29 to Hamilton Green 42. Gerry Watt, Gary Millich, Terry Barclay & Tink Imbi played a tight game ultimately producing a draw of 15 shots all against John Forsyth. Trevor Wynniat, Meredith Fredericks, Jack Ress & Robyn McCabe were up against a sronger combination with the score card 14 shots to Max Spiller and team 27.

Terry Stanley's rink of Jude Fasoli, Peter Sierat & Andy Whiddon battled to produce the goods but the Opposition were too strong, scores 12 shots Memorial, to John King and team 23. Peter Fasoli, Rob Liddle, Huon Beauglehole & Wendy Gray fought hard all day to create the win of 19 shots to Barry King’s team 15.

FWPA MIDWEEK

Round 5 of midweek pennant saw all 4 divisions winning.

Division one travelled to Balmoral winning in showery conditions 82 to 38. John Wallis, Dean Beckman, Rick Fallaize & Leanne Evison played the catch up game and teetered on the brink of a win but going down 19 to Tom Simon's 20. A big win to Tom Englezos, Chris Elford, Jan deZoete & June Leahy creating 40 scorers to Neville Trotman & team 5. A score of 23 shots created a win for Graeme Solly, Des Pitts, Tony Jackson & Kerry Cottier to Chick Trotman and team's 10.

Division one travelled to Balmoral winning in showery conditions 82 to 38. Division 2 travelled to Penshurst and won in a close one 46 to 42. Gerry Watt, Meredith Fredericks, Mike Rentoul & Kathryn Beauglehole scraped over the line with 21 to 20. Next door Gary Millach, Trevor Wynniat, Robyn McCabe & Trevor Cosgrove won 25 to 23.

Memorial Blue Division 3 welcomed Macarthur and had an overall win of 49 to 30. Peter Fasoli combined with Jack Rees & Marg Millach to compile 24 shots to Anne Gilmour's team 18. Ian Merrett, Jude Fasoli & Rosie Sturzaker produced a sound score of 25 to Elizabeth Marchant's 12.

Division 3 Memorial Red defeated Portland 43 to 26. Julie McInnis combined with Rob Liddle & Barry Ivory producing 21 shots to the opposition Peter Walsh 12. On the nearby rinks Ian Benbow had the support of Heather Liddle & Les Thomas compiling 22 to Barry Clay 14.
