It was straight wins across the board over the past weekend rounds of pennant.

Western District Playing Area Report for Round 13

The Makos met up against Terang Blue on the Friday night in Warrnambool and were determined to produce their best to peg back the points required to make second placing once again on the ladder. The team produced a resounding win of 77 shots to Terang 34, placing them still third with only 6 points being the buffer for second spot.

Michael Sloper with his team of Peter Cottier, Chris Elford & Tony Jackson crossed the line against  the Denis Delaney combination with a 6 shot win; scores 19/13. Paul Cameron, Graeme Solly, Chris Fleming, & Kim Overall combined well to produce 28 shots to Trevor Rees and team 13. Meanwhile Tom Englezos, Nick Seekamp, Ian Grayson & John Wallis had a day out putting up 30 winning shots to the Barry Stonehouse combination, 8. This week pits the third placed Makos on their home tank against fourth placed City Gold. The Makos will be determined to come away with the win and place them in good stead on the ladder for the up and coming final series.

Far Western Playing Area Weekend Report for Round 14 the last of the Home and Away series

Division 1 greeted Portland Blue to the tank winning 79 to 38. Greg Dobbins, Paul Soffe, Simon Hein & Paul Bentham came away with a win in a demonstration of strong disciplined bowling against Andrew Smail’s team; scores 32 to 13. Chris Bramley led his team of Des Pitts, Ken Evans & Leanne Evison to a win of 11 shots against Tom Beauglehole and team; scores 25/14. Meanwhile Tony Hogan, Dean Beckman, Steve Turner & Jason Dean broke away after the break against Lee Hoffman and team with a winning score of 22 to 11. Division 1 will be competing against Portland Gold this coming Saturday up at Heywood in the semi finals and we wish them all the best.

Division 2 Red & Blue also produced wins for the day. Blue travelled to Macarthur and put up 43 shots to Macarthur’s 38. Pearl Kitt, Trevor Wynniat, Meredith Fredericks and Wendy Gray came away with a four shot win against Frank Pye’s team, 23/19. On the nearby rink Gerry Watt, Rod Beauglehole, Robyn McCabe & Terry Barclay were involved in a closer contest, finally taking the win with one mere shot against Clifton Tonisson. Scores 20/19.

Red greeted Casterton and had a comfortable win of 53 shots to the opposition’s 28. Don McGowan combined with Jim Bryden, Geoff Sturzaker & June Leahy who crossed the line comfortably with 28 shots against Gary Russell’s team 13. Meanwhile Ronny Robinson, Jan DeZoete, Kathryn Beauglehole & Richard Matley compiled 25 winning shots to Wayne Southern and team 15. Memorial Red will now play in the semi finals on Saturday against Hamilton Green at Heywood. All the best to the team on the day.

Division 3 greeted Grangeburn and had an overall win of 53 shots to 31. Peter Fasoli, Ian Merrett, Judy Fasoli & Rob Abschinski combined well to produce a strong display of well executed bowls winning 30/17 against Fred Hardy & team. Another comfortable win took place on the nearby rink with Rob Liddle, Terry Stanley, Peter Sierat & Dave Attrill putting up 23 shots to the Lawrence Folley combination 14. The Division 3 side will come up against Hamilton Yellow at Penshurst and we wish them all the best of bowling on the day.

FWPA Midweek pennant Round 14 results, the last of the home & away season

Division 1 welcomed Grangeburn to the tank and were able to produce a dominant win with an overall score of 93/29. Tom Englezos, Ian Grayson, Jan De Zoete & June Leahy played confidently producing a win of 35/10 against Trevor Partington and team. Graeme Solly, Des Pitts, Tony Jackson & Kerrie Cottier were also producing consistent bowls to compile a  similar scoreline of 31/10 against Brian Kavanagh’s combination. The John Wallis, Dean Beckman, Rick Fallaize & Leanne Evison team recorded 27 shots to Wayne Rigby’s group tally of 9.

Division 2 were also home at the shark tank against Penshurst, producing an overall winning score of 44/31. Gerry Watt, Meredith Fredericks, Kathryn Beauglehole & Mike Rentoul were involved in a competitive game against Barry King coming away winners 23/18. Nearby Gary Milich, Trevor Wynniat, Trevor Cosgrove & Robyn McCabe produced a solid team effort against the Jenni Kennealy team winning 21/13.

Division 3 Red travelled to the water tower to compete against Portland and came away with a close overall win with a 38/32 score line. Ian Benbow, Les Thomas & Heather Liddle had a tussle against David Smith’s team, finally conceding to a close loss of 17 shots to 19. Meanwhile Julie McInnis, Rob Liddle & Barry Ivory combined well to win with 21 shots against Michael Crooks and team 13.

Division 3 Blue were also involved in a close match up for the day against Macarthur on their home green. Overall scores recording as 39/43. Peter Fasoli, Pearl Kitt & Margaret Milach were involved in a tight match against Carol Uebergang, resulting in a draw of 22 shots all. Ian Merrett, Jude Fasoli & Rosie Sturzaker finished the day with a scoreline of 17/21 against Robert Jehu and team.
